Thornsett Inks Deal On Hotel Project
The Irish Examiner, 10th March 2007Brussels: Irish owned property development company Thornsett Group has signed a deal with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, to develop the first Aloft hotel in Europe at a site with gross development value of about €80 million.
The site has full planning permission for a mixed-use development.
The 150 bedroom Aloft hotel will be located in Rue Belliard, Leopold, in the "European" quarter of Brussels. The scheme is located approximately 250 metres from the European Commission and European Parliament buildings.
As well as the Aloft hotel, the 22,500 sq metre development will also include 108 one and two bedroom apartments and 1,500 sq metres of retail space with parking. Construction will commence in autumn of this year, with completion scheduled for late 2009.
