City To Cities, April/May 2007European travellers are a-quiver (or should be) with the news that Starwood’s W brand is to make its debut over here, having wowed ‘em from New York to the Maldives. Not unsurprisingly given its design credentials, the first European opening will be Milan, in super-chic Brera. Opening in December next year, the hotel will ooze the class expected from the hotel company’s “trendy exec” brand. And like buses, you wait for one and two turn up: the first European retreat by W is planned to open in Verbier in 2009. Also in the Starwood stable is Aloft – kind of a mini-W for international hi-tech road warriors – and the first in that brand has been slated for Europe.
Irish developer Thornsett has confirmed the first will be Brussels, in Leopold Park, a mixed development.
