Asian buyers pour into new London development

Overseas Property Professional, 19th August 2011

International property development company Thornsett Group announced this week that it has sold half of the apartments at its new London development, Wheston Lodge in Woodside Park N12, only three months after launch, with Asian investors taking the bulk of overseas sales.

“The international interest at Wheston Lodge has been primarily from the Asian market,” Sue Khazoom, New Homes Sales Manager at Jeremy Leaf & Co told OPP, “in particular from buyers based in China, Malaysia, Japan and India”. Also, adds Khazoom, “the area is particularly popular among the Japanese because many are now opting to school their children in the UK and Woodside Park has some of the best schools in the area.”

“Quite interesting is that Barnet and Finchley Hospitals have been recruiting many doctors from India and this makes the leafy north London area a great location for them.”

Wheston Lodge, which launched in May 2011, consists of 25 one and two bedroom apartments including duplexes and penthouses.

Wheston Lodge is the first property to be built in the former grounds of Marian House, a missionary church, and it offers 22 off-street parking spaces within a gated and landscaped plot.

And Thornsett Group director Bernadette Cunningham told OPP that “having launched three months ago, we are extremely pleased with the sales already achieved and the developments provides a leafy location with great transport links into central London.”

Holden Avenue is in London’s Woodside Park suburb in North Finchley and borders Totteridge, Whetstone, Mill Hill and West Finchley. Prices start at £275,000 for a one bedroom apartment.
