Lee Conservancy Road
This new residential housing project was designed for, and sold to, a consortium of housing associations. It comprises fifty-nine houses and sixty flats for shared ownership and rental. The development, which is part of the Lee Valley Regeneration Strategy, received grant support from English Partnerships. Formerly occupied by the Lesney “Matchbox Toy” business, the development site had been vacant for some 15 years and required extensive ground decontamination work. Bordered by the River Lee to the East and a recreation park to the West, the design of the foundations also had to take account of the proximity of the river and make provision for a future underground railway. Designed to maximise the open views to the river and parkland, the new development has proved particularly popular with tenants.
Quite separately, and to the rear of the residential site, the overall development includes a light industrial park with a number of units providing a total of 30,000 sq ft of work space.
