Burton Street

Burton Street

This new development of fifty-nine flats and houses was built in two phases. A cul-de-sac consisting of twenty-nine flats with a neo-classical elevation; a Georgian corner block consisting of twenty flats which was designed to mirror image an existing building opposite and a Courtyard area, a scheme of nine mews houses.

The construction was quite a challenging process due to the restrictive nature of the site. The cul-de-sac and corner block were constructed from a pre-cast concrete panel system with insulated cavity and brickwork externally, the corner block had the brick rendered and stuccoed to create the mirror image of the opposite building. In the Courtyard we have created a scheme of nine traditionally built mews houses in a landscaped setting.

Burton Street was designed and built by the famous London builder, Sir James Burton, and this development had been constructed in sympathy with the street’s original design. The work was carried out in conjunction with the Bloomsbury Conservation Society in order to ensure that the building reflects all the details of the era. The entire project took fifteen months from start to finish.
