Whilst the main focus of the Group’s business has been the residential market (both private and affordable housing), our expertise has been given a depth and breadth through the variety of settings we have worked in.
Our schemes range from large, social housing projects to individual homes at the most prestigious addresses in London. We have assisted local governments with a variety of challenging developments including new schools and turnkey projects for the promotion of small and medium enterprises in a community context. In addition, we have developed complex, mixed use schemes incorporating housing, commercial suites, doctors’ surgeries, retail schemes and community buildings.
Our community involvement enables us to steer a path through the myriad issues surrounding the granting of planning permissions and Section 106 agreements.
The understanding of the residential planning process we have gained through our experience with Housing Associations and Local Authorities has enabled us, where appropriate, to develop schemes with affordable housing and key worker accommodation in mind. Recognising that many groups are using the planning process as a lobbying platform and that local planning departments must be as inclusive as possible, Thornsett have built up the knowledge and experience needed to get plans approved which meet all stakeholder needs.
Our knowledge of the entire development cycle enables us, at an early stage in the process, to determine the financial viability and ‘buildability’ of projects. Our ability to get the most from potential developments whilst keeping within tight budget constraints comes from our ability to work effectively with architects, planners, communities, builders and investors. From site identification through to project managing the build process, we have the experience and expertise to ensure the job is completed with a minimum of disruption or delay.
